The Concept
The concept of Earth Hotels was born in order to prioritize sustainability and eco-friendliness in hotels. The idea is to create a chain of hotels that operate with a strong focus on reducing wastage of resources such as water, electricity, and food, and adopting eco-friendly practices in all aspects of hotel operations.
With a mission to contribute towards a better and sustainable future, Earth Hotels is committed to promoting responsible tourism and creating awareness about the importance of sustainable practices in the hospitality industry.
Water Management
We at Earth Hotels are conscious of our water consumption and have a monitoring system installed to measure usage.
The hotel industry in India is estimated to consume around 200 million liters of water per day, according to a report by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The report also suggests that the average water consumption per room per day in Indian hotels is around 300-400 liters.
We encourage guests to be mindful of their own water usage during their stay to promote responsible water usage and minimize our impact on the environment.
Energy Management
We are aware of the significant amount of energy consumed by hotels in India, as highlighted by the report from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The report suggests that hotels can save up to 30-40% of their energy consumption by adopting energy-efficient practices.
To do our part in reducing energy consumption, we have installed LED sensors and energy meters to measure and optimize power consumption in our hotels.
Waste Management
Our Earth Scale initiative is a humble attempt to encourage our guests to reduce food waste by being mindful of their consumption.
In India, the hospitality industry alone adds to the staggering 67 million tons of food waste produced each year, a report by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) reveals. At Earth Hotels, we feel a sense of responsibility towards addressing this issue. We weigh the food waste generated by each guest at the restaurant and charge accordingly. The collected amount goes to a charitable organization that works towards alleviating hunger. Join us in our mission to make a difference, one plate at a time.
